Pizza has always been the king of comfort foods, but what if there was a version that doesn't end up stored as fat on your hips but, on the contrary, helps you reach your goals? This ham and mushroom pizza is not only off the banned list but could specifically be a recommended food for you if your goal is weight loss or muscle gain.
The secret lies in the smart selection of ingredients. The whole wheat tortilla wrap is rich in fiber, providing slower-absorbing carbohydrates. Chicken breast ham is one of the leanest protein sources, containing barely 2 grams of fat per 100 grams but nearly 25 grams of protein. Mushrooms are not only low in calories (22 kcal/100g) but also packed with beta-glucans and antioxidants that stimulate the immune system.
With our light mozzarella choice, we further reduced the fat content while preserving the essence of pizza: the joy of melted cheese. The "pizza sauce" made with protein powder is an innovative solution to further boost the protein content without adding fat or carbohydrates.
This recipe is not only nutritious but also quick, ready in 20 minutes, making it a perfect choice for a weekday lunch or a quick dinner.

Diet Pizza Ingredients (1 serving, ~220 g)
- 1 whole wheat tortilla wrap (60 g) – a low glycemic index carbohydrate source
- 150 g cooked chicken breast ham (lean, smoked or plain) – quality animal protein
- 80 g fresh button mushrooms – low calorie, rich in fiber
- 50 g light mozzarella cheese (grated) – reduced fat version
- 30 g tomato purée (salt- and sugar-free) – a source of lycopene
- 10 g unflavored whey protein powder – for extra protein intake
- 5 g extra virgin olive oil – healthy fatty acids
- Spices: oregano, fresh basil, garlic powder

Diet Pizza Preparation:
- 1.) Prep: Preheat the oven to 180 °C (on the lowest setting with convection mode).
- 2.) Making the base: Spread the tortilla wrap thinly with the tomato purée. This not only adds flavor but also aids the absorption of lycopene (a powerful antioxidant).
- 3.) Making the "sauce": Mix the protein powder, spices, and 1-2 drops of water into a thick paste, then spread it onto the tomato base. This delivers the classic pizza flavor profile with extra protein.
- 4.) Adding the toppings:
- Cut the ham into thin strips and distribute them evenly.
- Slice the mushrooms and scatter them on top (important: they shouldn't be too wet, otherwise the pizza will become soggy).
- Finally, sprinkle with the grated mozzarella.
- 5.) Baking: Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, until the cheese is nicely melted and slightly browned.
- 6.) Serving: Serve sprinkled with fresh basil leaves and perhaps seasoned with a little chili flake.

Can I eat this ham and mushroom pizza if I want to lose weight?
You can certainly eat this pizza for weight loss, and in fact, we specifically recommend it. There are several reasons for this. First, our recipe is fundamentally low in calories (145 kcal/100g) while being excellently filling (18g protein and 2.5g fiber/100g).
The high protein content is crucial during weight loss, as it protects muscle mass while your body uses fat as an energy source. The whole wheat tortilla contains slower-absorbing carbohydrates, which helps avoid insulin spikes and the subsequent hunger pangs. It's important to emphasize, however, that no single food has a magical slimming effect. The key to weight loss is a sustainable calorie deficit.
With the GetFIT App, you can track exactly how this pizza fits into your daily calorie allowance and what other foods you can combine it with throughout the day to achieve optimal results. Remember, the secret to success lies not in banning individual foods, but in conscious choices.
Can I eat this ham and mushroom pizza if I want to build muscle?
This pizza can be an excellent choice for gaining muscle mass as well, particularly as a post-workout meal. The 18g/100g protein content provides a significant amount of essential amino acids, which are indispensable for muscle repair and growth.
The chicken breast ham used in the recipe is one of the leanest protein sources, while the light mozzarella provides additional protein and calcium without resulting in excessive fat intake. The antioxidant content of the mushrooms reduces post-exercise inflammation, enabling faster recovery. For muscle mass gain, however, not only protein but total calorie intake is also crucial.
The GetFIT App helps you calculate how much extra energy is needed to reach your goals and how this pizza fits into your daily macros. It can be particularly practical if you need a quick, high-protein meal between workouts or if you struggle to eat traditional diet foods.
Is this ham and mushroom pizza recipe healthy?
This pizza version can be considered a distinctly healthy choice from both a professional and practical standpoint. In selecting its ingredients, we consciously avoided highly processed components: the whole wheat tortilla is rich in fiber and B vitamins, chicken breast ham is an excellent quality animal protein source, and mushrooms contain prebiotic substances and antioxidants.
By choosing light mozzarella, we reduced the intake of saturated fatty acids (1.8g/100g) while preserving the cheese's nutrients. Olive oil provides healthy monounsaturated fatty acids. The recipe's glycemic index is low (40), which is particularly beneficial for blood sugar level concerns. The 2.5g/100g fiber content contributes to maintaining healthy gut flora. Of course, as with any food, moderation is key.
With the GetFIT App, you can easily find the optimal amount that fits your individual nutritional needs and lifestyle while providing all necessary nutrients.
How many calories are in the ham and mushroom pizza?
The calorie content of the ham and mushroom pizza made with our recipe is 145 kcal per 100 grams, which means 319 kcal for a full serving (220g).
This relatively low value is due to several factors: the whole wheat tortilla wrap contains fewer calories than traditional pizza dough, and the light mozzarella contains up to 30% less fat (and thus calories) compared to regular mozzarella.
Chicken breast ham is an extremely lean meat, with only 1-2% fat content, while mushrooms are barely 22 kcal/100g. The sauce made with protein powder is an innovative solution that enables significant protein intake with minimal calorie addition.
Can this diet pizza really help with weight loss?
Yes, but not because it has a "fat-burning effect," but because it allows you to take in fewer calories while eating a filling and tasty meal. The high protein content (18g/100g) helps preserve muscle mass during a calorie deficit, and the fiber provides a long-lasting feeling of fullness. In the GetFIT App, you can track exactly how this meal fits into your daily macro allowance.
How can this diet pizza recipe be made even healthier?
There are several options:
- Swap the tortilla wrap for a kale leaf to make it carbohydrate-free
- Replace the mozzarella with grated zucchini to further reduce the calorie content
- Sprinkle with broccoli seeds to increase protein and fiber intake
You'll find a detailed guide on all of these in the "Recipe Variations" section of the GetFIT App.
How long does the diet pizza keep after making it?
It's best consumed fresh, but it will keep for 2 days in the refrigerator. When reheating:
- Wrapped in aluminum foil at 150 °C for 5 minutes
- In the microwave for 30 seconds, then let it rest for 1 minute
This way it won't become dry. Note that due to the mushrooms, storing it for more than 2 days is not recommended.
Why is this healthier than an average pizza?
An average pizzeria pizza (100g):
- 280+ kcal
- 10g fat (4g of which is saturated)
- Only 12g protein
This version:
- 145 kcal
- 4g fat (1.8g saturated)
- 18g protein
So nearly half the calories, double the protein, and half the fat.
What can I put on the diet pizza if I don't like mushrooms?
It remains an excellent choice without mushrooms:
- With bell peppers for extra vitamin C
- With tomato slices as a lycopene source
- With spinach for iron and folic acid content
