AI Calorie Tracker Usage Guide
AI Calorie Tracker In The GetFIT App – How Do I Use It?
Traditional calorie tracking can be tedious. If you ate a ham sandwich with butter, you have to search for white bread, set the quantity, then search for ham, adjust it again, and then butter. That’s three separate searches for a single sandwich.
If you eat multiple times a day and consume meals with several ingredients, this can easily add up to 15–20 minutes of extra time daily. And honestly, no one wants to spend that much time logging food every day.
That’s why the GetFIT App developed a smarter solution: the AI-powered nutrition tracker. It’s an artificial intelligence system that processes what you write and automatically calculates calories and macros.
How Does The AI Logger Work In The GetFIT App?
It’s simpler than you think. Tap the “Add New Food” button on the logging screen. A chat-like interface will open.
There’s an input field where you can type what you ate. The more detailed you are, the more accurate the result will be.
Two Methods:
Less accurate method:
You simply type “scrambled eggs” and send it. The AI calculates an average version with commonly used ingredients and default quantities.
More accurate method:
You describe it in detail: “scrambled eggs made from four whole eggs, about 200 grams, cooked in five grams of butter, topped with 15 grams of green onion.” This produces a much more accurate result.
Detail matters. If you want to lose fat and track calories precisely, detailed descriptions are essential. The same applies to muscle building — you need to know exactly how much you eat.
Clicking the add new food button opens this interface
Why Is This Better Than Manual Search?
Imagine eating scrambled eggs for breakfast. With the traditional method, you’d need to search for eggs, butter, green onions, and possibly salt or pepper — all separately. This takes over a minute.
With the AI logger, you write one sentence, wait about 10 seconds, and you’re done. That’s at least a 50% time saving — often more.
Daily, this can save 10–15 minutes. Weekly, that’s over an hour.
After entering your meal, the app starts calculating
How Does The Nutrition Calculation Work?
After sending your message, you’ll see a response: “Do not close this screen, I’m calculating.” This means the AI is working in the background.
For simple meals: 5–8 seconds
For complex meals: 10–15 seconds
Even for complex meals, it’s still much faster than manual logging.
What Do You See In The Results?
Once the AI finishes, you’ll see:
- Meal name
- Recognized ingredients
- Protein content
- Carbohydrate content
- Fat content
- Calories
- Some micronutrients
Scroll down and you’ll find an edit button (next to save). Here, you can adjust ingredient quantities, add new items, or remove anything if needed.
After a few seconds, you’ll see the results — scroll down and click save to log it
Why Is The Edit Option Important?
Let’s say you typed “scrambled eggs” without details. The AI calculates an average version. But you know you used more butter than usual.
Click edit and adjust the butter amount, or add missing ingredients. This ensures accuracy.
This is especially important if you’re in a strict calorie deficit. One extra tablespoon of butter is around 100 calories — enough to push you over your daily target without realizing it.
Saving And Adding To Your Daily Summary
Once satisfied, click save. The button turns green, the chat closes, and the meal is automatically added to your daily intake.
You can view your totals by tapping “Daily Summary” and scrolling down. Here you’ll see total calories, protein, carbs, and fat for the day.
Your logged meal now appears in your daily summary
Why Is This Useful For Both Fat Loss And Muscle Building?
Fat Loss:
You can accurately track calorie intake and avoid underestimating or overestimating food. Accuracy is key for fat loss.
Muscle Building:
If you struggle to gain weight, the AI ensures you’re eating enough. Many people underestimate their intake.
Recomposition:
If your goal is building muscle while losing fat, precise macro tracking is essential. The AI helps maintain high protein intake while controlling calories.
What If The Result Isn’t Accurate?
If something seems off, use the edit button. Adjust ingredients and quantities, then save again.
Think of this as a safety net — you are the final decision-maker.
Tips For Best Results
Use grams and milliliters
Instead of “one serving,” write “150 grams.”
Include cooking method
“Grilled chicken in olive oil” is more accurate than “chicken.”
Add extras
Mention oils, sauces, butter, and toppings — they add calories.
Specify quantities for each ingredient
“Four eggs, five grams of butter, 15 grams of green onion” is far better than “eggs with butter and onion.”
What Foods Should You Use It For?
The AI logger works for all foods but is especially useful for complex meals.
Ideal:
- Multi-ingredient meals (sandwiches, salads, casseroles)
- Home-cooked dishes
- Breakfasts (smoothies, oatmeal with toppings, egg dishes)
- Dinners you prepare yourself
Less ideal:
- Single-ingredient foods like an apple or plain chicken breast (manual search is faster here)
