How does GetFIT App calculate your BMR?
What Does BMR Mean?
BMR stands for Basal Metabolic Rate. It estimates the amount of energy your body requires at rest to maintain essential processes such as breathing, circulation, and temperature regulation.
GetFIT App uses the body information you provide to estimate this value. Your BMR is not the same as the total number of calories you burn throughout the day because it does not represent all of the additional energy used through everyday movement, exercise, and other activities.
How Does GetFIT App Use Your BMR?
BMR provides a starting point for estimating your daily energy requirements. Once your activity is taken into account, your overall daily energy expenditure can be estimated and used by GetFIT App to determine a calorie target appropriate for your selected goal.
For fat loss, your calorie target may be set below estimated maintenance requirements to create a calorie deficit. For weight gain or bulking, a higher calorie intake may be appropriate to create a surplus. For weight maintenance, the goal is generally to consume around your estimated maintenance needs.
BMR And Calorie Tracking
Once your daily target has been calculated, you can use the GetFIT App calorie tracker web app to log meals and monitor your actual calorie, protein, carbohydrate, and fat intake.
BMR and daily calorie requirements are calculated estimates rather than direct measurements of exactly how much energy your body uses. Tracking your calorie intake, body weight, and longer-term trends can provide useful context for understanding how your estimated energy requirements relate to your real-world progress.
